Entrance Test

The Entrance Test is compulsory for all the applicants for Diploma in Economics.
Subjects: Mathematics and English
Duration: Three hours (plus a fifteen minutes break in between)

Mathematics entrance test

The Math test will be for duration of one hour and will test your basic math skills including

  • Simultaneous Equations and linear inequalities
  • Solutions of Quadratic Equations
  • Basic Algebra
  • Graph
  • Sequence and Series (A.P and G.P., Infinite Series)
  • Probability (Basic)
  • Functions
  • Derivatives (Algebraic & Exponential Functions)
  • Application of derivatives

English entrance test

The English test will be for a duration of two hours and will test the linguistic, logical and analytical/critical skills of the candidate. The test is divided into three sections, as follows:

Grammar and Usage

You will be asked to fill in the blanks with appropriate words in a given passage. Based on the Cloze test, this section aims to test the student’s understanding of grammar, prepositions and vocabulary.

Comprehension

You will be asked to read a short article and answer questions based on the article. The section aims at testing skills of comprehension and expression.

Essay writing

In this section the student must answer a discursive essay question The examiners will expect the following

  • A structured essay.
  • Logical argument
  • Focused answer
  • Application of the comprehension article
  • Originality of thought
  • Approximately 500 words in length
