Entrance Test
The Entrance Test is compulsory for all the applicants for Diploma in Economics.
Subjects: Mathematics and English
Duration: Three hours (plus a fifteen minutes break in between)
Mathematics entrance test
The Math test will be for duration of one hour and will test your basic math skills including
- Simultaneous Equations and linear inequalities
- Solutions of Quadratic Equations
- Basic Algebra
- Graph
- Sequence and Series (A.P and G.P., Infinite Series)
- Probability (Basic)
- Functions
- Derivatives (Algebraic & Exponential Functions)
- Application of derivatives
Slope of the tangent at a point
Maxima & Minima
Application of derivatives (slope of the tangent at a point)
English entrance test
The English test will be for a duration of two hours and will test the linguistic, logical and analytical/critical skills of the candidate. The test is divided into three sections, as follows:
Grammar and Usage
You will be asked to fill in the blanks with appropriate words in a given passage. Based on the Cloze test, this section aims to test the student’s understanding of grammar, prepositions and vocabulary.
Comprehension
You will be asked to read a short article and answer questions based on the article. The section aims at testing skills of comprehension and expression.
Essay writing
In this section the student must answer a discursive essay question The examiners will expect the following
- A structured essay.
- Logical argument
- Focused answer
- Application of the comprehension article
- Originality of thought
- Approximately 500 words in length
