Greetings from Russell Square International College (RSIC), a Recognised Teaching Centre of the University of London.
A research study refers that India has the largest network of higher education in the world, which is estimated to grow at the rate of 18% per annum by 2020. It is obvious that in an era of global economic competitions, higher education, that strengthens economic growth, has to compete beyond the domestic frontiers. In the backdrop of this factual position, the Government of India has incorporated international cooperation as one of the five aims and objectives of the Department of Education, Ministry of Human Resource Development. It further highlights that Government has to work closely with UNESCO, foreign governments and Universities. Likewise, UNESCO, in one of its reports, has inter alia emphasized need for sustainable development, economic growth and preparing responsible global citizenship in which higher education is expected to play a vital role.
The management of the RSIC had the vision of unfolding scenario in the field of education which was transformed into reality by establishing an undergraduate college which offers International Programme of Studies/courses within the country.
RSIC is the first college to introduce international curriculum at the undergraduate level teaching in the Mumbai Metropolis Region. The college signed the MOU with the University of London and got permission to teach the EMFSS courses designed by the reputed London School of Economics and Political Science (LSE) in 2004. RSIC offers wide range of EMFSS courses e.g. BSc Economics, BSc Accounting and Finance, BSc Banking and Finance, BSc Business and Management, BSc Economics and Management, BSc Economics and Finance under Academic Direction of LSE. In 2013, RSIC introduced BSc in Business Administration (BBA) under Academic Direction of Royal Holloway. LSE and Royal Holloway are the Member Institutions of UOL.
These courses offered at RSIC are managed by University of London which monitors and maintains periodic performance of institutions as part of quality assurance.
The college offers infrastructure and amenities matching international standard, which facilitates students for interactive academic sessions and extra-curricular activities. The global trend at the higher education level is on learning rather than teaching; and learning is a continuous process in which both students and the teachers have to be conscious of the changes that are taking place not only in the field that they are specialized in, but its impact on socio-economic conditions of human life. The traditional black/white board method of teaching is no more relevant in the current scenario because the focus has now shifted from acquisition to dissemination of knowledge for socio-economic entrepreneurship and overall growth of global society, which is being closely observed by the UN in the form of human development index of individual nation states.
RSIC is a premier institution of higher learning and we welcome all aspiring students to explore their potentials for excellence in life.
